🦇 Each month a new writing challenge will be released, that takes on a different theme from a horror subgenre (ie. write a story that includes a demon possession, write a story with a folk religion during the winter solstice etc.).
🦇 These challenges will be guided, where everyday you'll follow a prompt given to you by me, that will aid you in completing your story within the 30 days. You'll also be given tiny writing modules about the month's specific subgenre, and researched facts to lend an extra helping hand.
🦇 You’ll get access to a dedicated Discord server where you and the other participants can chitchat, discuss your stories, make friends, and support one another throughout the duration of the challenge.
🦇 At the end of the challenge you'll submit your completed story to me, where I'll then read it (yes, I'm personally reading ALL the submissions) and then I'll choose 5 winners.
Each month 5 winners will win:
A curated stack of horror books (value ~$80)
A copy of The Cheating Death Horror Story Guide (value $50)
Have your story published on The Horror Scriptorium’s Substack (audience 1k+)
Have your story featured in a dedicated TikTok and Instagram video and YouTube community post (combined audience 43.8k)
I'm sure you noticed as soon as you landed on this page that the challenge costs $8 to participate in.
The price tag is there to support the time and care that goes into putting these challenges together each month, reading all the entries, and sending out the prizes. I’m only one girl the end of the day.
Also, each month is built around a specific theme that I’ll be guiding you through. You’ll learn how to approach it depending on the theme and subgenre, how to build that kind of fear, how to structure it, and how to turn the idea into a finished story.
There’s a clear path for you to follow, so you’re not stuck sitting there half of the challenge wondering what to do next. And this info is all yours to keep once the challenge is over.
To keep this fair on everyone, you're only permitted to submit one (1) horror story per challenge.
100% no. This challenge is for all writing levels, all that matters is that you have fun doing the challenge.
